Royal Schiphol Group

Schiphol

Royal Schiphol Group operates Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and a number of other airports and aviation-related businesses. The Enabling Technology department is responsible for providing the IT infrastructure, automation, and tooling that supports developers. Business critical applications for supporting airport operations are developed and hosted on the foundation that Enabling Technology provides.

Platform Engineer

March 2025 - Present

Responsibilities:
  • Designed and implemented multi-tenant container platform based on OpenShift.
  • Applied platform engineering principles by developing building blocks for developers.
  • Automated infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible and Golang.
  • Collaborated with security team to implement secure by default platform.
  • Migrated legacy clusters to the new platform with minimal downtime.

Dutch National Police

March 2024 - April 2025

Nieuwegein

The Dutch National Police develops and maintains many different applications to support their officers in the field. Many of the innovative solutions require a modern approach to infrastructure and deployment. Some applications are time-sensitive, therefore the platform has to enable developers to deploy their applications quickly and securely using self-service.

Responsibilities:
  • Designed and implemented the monitoring stack on Kubernetes.
  • Improved efficiency of hardware usage of Gitlab.
  • Standardized deployment strategy using configuration as code.
  • Led the design for a self-service Golang application for OAuth configuration.

Amersfoort

EDSN facilitates energy market processes in the Netherlands by providing data services to grid operators and energy suppliers.

Platform Engineer

March 2022 - January 2024

Responsibilities:
  • Designed and implemented Kubernetes Operators in Golang for the API Gateway.
  • Migrated numberous applications to a single entrypoint (gateway), allowing EDSN to standarize their endpoint security guidelines.
  • Improved capacity management of the Nginx reverse proxy and Kong by executing performance tests.
  • Implemented observability for all components.
